The word “politics” comes from the greek, “politikos”. It means: Citizen.
The word Politics has evolved. It now means something different. Politics now symbolizes divide and rancor. Politics polarizes. It reveals what brings us to opposition. It separates us from what we have it common. Politics divides against itself. It pits us against them. Politics now divides citizens. It divides people.
Politics cements differences. Politics represents distrust. Politics is zero-sum, win/lose thinking. Politics illustrates the reasons that the founding fathers developed a revolutionary Constitution intended to protects us from the majority, intended to protect us from ourselves.
8991. Lives given and taken. In New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. In Iraq and Afghanistan. Lives to humbly honor … Those who died for the right for “We, the People” to be citizens together.
Today, let’s start a revolution. Redifine politics. Focus on what “We, the People …” have to fight for together.
Honor their sacrifice by sacrificing pride for their honor.
This is written in honor of all those who have sacrificed in life and limb for our nation. Some lives were taken, some were given. It is for their families, friends and loved ones. It is written in honor of those who show and have shown their commitment to protect the rest of us by wearing the uniform. Thank you for the gift of freedom. Thank you for the gift to speak and practice freely. Thank you for your honor and sacrifice.
